A little about me. I'm a second year teacher in the great state of Kansas. A former K-5 special education teacher, I will now be a 4th grade ELA teacher continuing to co-teach. When following this blog you will find ideas for reading and writing in the upper grades, iPad integration, and a few primary posts every now and then too! Products I create are items I use in my classroom. I love to utilize centers so you'll find several games and centers in my store, as well as lesson ideas and now classroom decor:

Speaking of classroom decor, here is the item that I've donated:

I've been bitten by the chevron bug and have created schedule cards to post up in my room, and now to share with  you too! There are 76 different classes and 4 blank cards in the pack.

You might also be interested in my place value centers listed at only $4!

Six centers to supplement and review place value concepts, aligned to the 4th grade common core standards, but could be used for 3rd or 5th grade as well. While your looking, be sure to follow my store for the latest news in sales, new products, and flash freebies.

There are still a few days left in my 300 follower giveaway, by following via bloglovin' and TPT you've already earned several entries. The prizes include $25 TPT gift certificate and chances to win units from my TPT store.

  5. Congratulations on reaching your 300 Follower milestone! I've been out of the loop for a couple of days, spending time with family and long-lost high school friends that I just saw your achievement! AWESOME! I gave you a little shout-out on my Saturday blog post.

My favorite back-to-school read is "Apple Island or the Truth About Teachers." I use this with my fifth grade Language Arts class. Besides being funny, this book contains great examples of figurative language (alliteration, similes, metaphors, personification) and it is terrific to use to teach plot development (rising action, climax, falling action). We refer back to it all year.

Enjoy the rest of your celebration!

  7. Happy to find your blog on the scavenger hunt! My fav book to read used to be How to Be Cool in Third Grade, when I taught third grade. I teach fifth grade now, and we departmentalize, so I haven't been able to read any good books at the beginning of the last two years. Hopefully I'll be able to with some of the examples people are giving:)
    Thanks

  14. One of my favorite stories to read at the beginning of the school year is "Beware of Boys". It is a book about a little boy who outsmarts a wolf who wants to eat him. As a class, we talk about how smart the boy is and turn that into a discussion of just how clever each student in the class is. When working with special education students, I think it is extremely important to make them realize just how smart they really are.
