About Me

You are one amazing and dedicated teacher. Do you want to know how I know that? You have found yourself here, searching for teaching ideas and inspiration in your down time.

I'm betting you're exhausted right now because:
  • With every item checked off your to-do list, two more items are added.
  • You spend hours perusing Pinterest gleaning ideas for your classroom {why does this not count as Professional development?!}
  • That switch just doesn't seem to turn off-- you are constantly thinking about how to make learning accessible to all of your students. Thinking about how can you tweak, adapt, or creating to make learning meaningful for each child.
  • Lesson planning is a chore. Although your caseload is small, the needs vary greatly, each lesson needs multiple levels just to meet your students' individual needs.
  • Some times you forget what it's like to have a social life or maybe you feel like your family life is suffering because you just do not have enough time to meet all of the demands at school + all of those demands at home.

Teaching Special Education is something you are passionate about. But sometimes, you wish there was someone there to help: with planning, save time with paperwork, and differentiation. So that you can focus on each of your students and help them to make progress towards their goals.

You are in the right place. I've got your back!

My goal is to help savvy special education teachers gain back their time with low prep, differentiated, and engaging resources.

Hi there! My name is Christy and I cannot wait to help support you in your teaching journey.

I started this blog, several years ago during my first year teaching. I shared lessons, activities, and resources I used in my classroom and those that I discovered and tried out from other teaching blogs. I felt like teaching and sharing was my calling, my passion.

I let #allthethings teaching and learning take over my life.

I was unable to turn off the switch. Up late at night reading blogs or creating resources. Scrolling through Pinterest and Blog Lovin' in my downtime. Teaching was all consuming.

The teacher I mentioned earlier was ME-- devoted, passionate, exhausted. A few years into teaching and I became a mom for the first time, and I had to prioritize. There was no way I could do it all, to the level I had been, and be the best mom/wife that I could. Something had to give.

You don't have to do it all on your own.

I'm here to save you time, so that you can get your students progressing toward their goals, without sacrificing a personal life.

How Can I Help You?

Here at Teaching Tales Along the Yellow Brick Road, you'll find ideas, resources, and activities to aid in your planning, differentiated instruction, and data collection. You'll also be able to purchase lessons and resources to help check off a few more of your to-do's.

A Little More About Me:

I have my masters degree in Special Education from Kansas State University.
I am married and have two little girls, who are 13 months apart, they keep me on my toes.
I'm a sports fan-- especially K-State Wildcats, KC Royals, and Chiefs.
